U9's Final v Neyland 30th Apr 2017

Under the oppressive heavy grey clouds that threatened a wet day ahead Llangwm U9's travelled to Crymych to face Neyland on finals day.
From the off it was clear that Llangwm faced an uphill battle against a strong quick well drilled side. The first half passed quickly leaving the boys shell shocked by the ferocity of the Neyland attack. The boys in black hammered the black and amber line repeatedly. A strong tackling defence could not stem the black tide. N...eyland scored 5 unanswered tries in the first half. After a stern half time talk the boys woke up and began to find their Rhythm and strong running from Darcy, Rhys and George drove into the heart of the Neyland defence. This allowed George G, Liam, William and Leo to run at Neyland. Excellent support from Harry, Jack, Ruby and Zack meant that the second half was a more even contest. Tries from Darcy x2 Liam and Rhys in the second half meant that they pegged Neyland back who also scored 4 tries in the second half. Neyland ran out winners 9 tries to 4.

Don't weep for me.
It was my time to fall for this club of mine.
It was for this team of mine that I love that I gave my all.
I gave freely of my body heart and soul.
I battled fiercely valiantly but ultimately in vain.
I leave the field battered bruised and ultimately defeated.
But not bowed
All that we will have are the memories of this battle as wounds heal and bruises fade.
Memories of defeat will stir the seeds from which I will grow stronger faster more determined.
Like the Phoenix our star will burn brightly again.
For now I rest to heal the hurt.
To build to renew.
Until next season when we shall stand side by side brothers once again forged in the furnaces of battle.

Both John and I are extremely proud of what this team have achieved this season. If you would have told me that we would have been playing on finals day at the start I would have laughed and told you not in a million years. But through hard work determination sprinkled with some talent this team has surpassed all expectations. We can all be rightly proud of what they have achieved.
We will rest now and start rebuilding and developing come the summer. But for now boys all I have left to say is "Bloody well done. I am proud of you all and it has been a pleasure to coach you all. I look forward to next season". But now dear reader my season is done. I am going to settle down with a cold beer cheer the Lions and plan for next year. Report by Hamish.
